Sidi ARX Air Riding Shoes Review
With comfort at the forefront, Sidi’s ARX Air Riding Shoes are an excellent option for riders seeking footwear that works both on and off the bike. While the shoes may lack armor inserts, the D3O ankle protection, reinforced heel, and rip-stop toe provide more safety than conventional streetwear. The shoes feature a classic high-top design that pairs perfectly with riding pants, hoodies, and other casual gear.

Walk & Ride in Comfort
It’s been a while since I’ve reviewed a pair of riding shoes. If you’ve followed my previous work, you’ll know I often stray from boots in favor of more casual, low-profile riding footwear. I’m not big on boots—so I’ll admit that bias up front.
Helmet House expressed interest in collaborating on some gear, and I figured, why not? My current riding shoes were showing their age, and the ARX Air Riding Shoes looked right up my alley.
Slim, sleek, discreet, and most importantly—comfortable.
After putting them to the test, I was pleasantly surprised by their performance. They checked most of my boxes, and I think they’ll check many of yours too.
Skate Shoes or Riding Shoes?
The Sidi ARX Air Riding Shoes blur the line between streetwear and motorcycle gear. They feature a few design cues that distinguish them from regular sneakers, most notably the outer mesh panels along the midsection and heel.
That mesh is a welcome addition—it provides excellent airflow in warm riding conditions, something you’ll appreciate during longer rides. Even better, it’s mostly hidden under riding jeans, leaving only the toe and laces visible.
Speaking of the toe, the shift guard is discreet and smaller than most, which looks cleaner but might compromise protection slightly.
I tested the Black/White colorway. The white rubber sole contrasts nicely against the black fabric, and while black laces are included, the white ones look sharper in my opinion.
The black ARX shoes are far easier to keep clean than the white Spidi XPD Moto-1s I reviewed in 2023. Back then, I was thrilled to find white riding shoes—until the shifter ruined them after a few rides.
Overall, I love the design. When worn with riding jeans, they resemble black Converse sneakers. The only design tweak I’d request is subtler reflective detailing on the heel—something more integrated and stylish.

Build Quality
At first glance, the ARX Air Riding Shoes look premium—and for the most part, they are. One issue, however, could become significant over time: the stitching.
The rip-stop toe material was a smart choice, helping your foot slide rather than catch on the pavement during a crash. The Vibram rubber sole feels firm and durable, offering excellent grip and stability on pegs and controls.
The upper canvas and mesh feel thick, impact-absorbing, and comfortable. Everything about this shoe suggests quality—except the stitching.
On the shift guard, the stitching began to fray after my first ride. Oddly, it frayed higher up the foot in areas unlikely to contact the shifter. It hasn’t worsened much since, but it raises concerns about long-term durability.
If the stitching frays from light shifting, how will it perform in a slide?

Fit & Comfort
Sizing is one area where the ARX Airs stand out. You’ll need to convert your U.S. size to EU sizing (a quick Google search helps).
Unfortunately, Sidi doesn’t make every half size. I usually wear a U.S. 9, so I had to choose between an 8.5 and a 9.5. I went with the latter—and was pleasantly surprised. They fit slightly large but remained snug and secure for riding.
Sidi also deserves credit for offering larger sizes (up to U.S. 15)—a rarity in this category.
The fit is snug initially, especially around the ankle due to the high-top design, but a pull tab helps with entry. After breaking them in, they maintained a tight, supportive fit without becoming loose over time.
In terms of comfort, these shoes are outstanding. Whether walking or riding, I experienced no pressure points or discomfort. The soles are soft yet supportive—perfect for all-day wear.

Protection
The ARX Air Riding Shoes aren’t built for maximum protection—and that’s okay. They lack metal inserts and high-abrasion layers but are still EN 13634:2017 certified.
They include D3O ankle padding for impact absorption and reinforced heel and toe areas for basic protection.
These aren’t the most armored short boots available, but they strike a fair balance between comfort, flexibility, and safety. Sidi could improve future versions with a small ankle insert or internal reinforcement—without sacrificing style.

Value for Money
At $179.99 USD, the Sidi ARX Air Riding Shoes sit in the mid-range category. They face stiff competition from options like the TCX Street 3 Air Shoes, which offer features such as an Ortholite footbed and D3O malleolus inserts at the same price.
Even more affordable options, like the Cortech “The Slayer” Canvas Riding Shoes, include comparable features for around $40 less.
That said, the ARX Airs are not overpriced—they’re just competing in a crowded segment. Their comfort and large sizing options will appeal to many riders, but others may find better feature sets elsewhere.

Final Verdict
Riding in the Sidi ARX Air Riding Shoes was a pleasure. They blend casual, streetwear-inspired style with the practical functionality riders need.
While not the cheapest or most protective option, their comfort, discreet design, and everyday versatility make them a great choice for urban and casual riders alike.
If staying cool, calm, and comfortable is your top priority, the Sidi ARX Air Riding Shoes will fit perfectly into your gear lineup.
